Butcher Shop Press is an art-based initiative housed in a space at the back of an early 1900s era building in East Flat Rock, NC where a butcher shop once operated.

Through workshops, exhibitions, and open studio access, the studio aims to foster a vibrant printmaking community that honors the rich craft of print and the unique artistic voices of our region.

Monotype printmaking is a painterly technique creating one-of-a-kind prints by applying ink to a non-absorbent plate and transferring it to paper with a press.

Join Phil Garrett as he demonstrates his monotype printmaking technique. Phil is an instructor at Butcher Shop Press. His Ink, Paper and Intuition : Monotype Printmaking workshop begins Thursday, May 28.

This 3 day workshop will explore the spontaneous and dynamic medium of monotype printmaking, a very user-friendly and immediate art-making process using Acrylic (Plexi) Plates, Water-soluble inks and Water-soluble drawing materials.
