First Pulls: Works of Butcher Shop Press

March 25 -A pril 4

Opening Reception: March 25

Butcher Shop Press begins its creative journey by presenting its first group exhibition, ‘First Pulls: Works of Butcher Shop Press’, on display from March  25 through April  4.

Butcher Shop Press is an art-based initiative housed in a space at the back of  Studio 116 where a butcher shop once operated in the early 1900s. Today, the space has been transformed into a working print studio dedicated to exploring the craft and possibilities of printmaking.

Each hand-pulled print in this exhibit was created using the studio’s Takach etching press, generously donated by artist Marty Whaley Adams. The works highlight a range of approaches to printmaking and reflect the creativity of local artists exploring the unique processes of monotype and other print techniques.

Butcher Shop Press celebrates printmaking as a medium for creative expression, community connection, and artistic growth. Its mission is to provide a supportive, collaborative space for artists of all levels to explore traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques. Through workshops, exhibitions, and open studio access, the studio aims to foster a vibrant printmaking community that honors the rich craft of print and the unique artistic voices of our region.

The opening reception for First Pulls: Works of Butcher Shop Press will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25. The event is free and open to the public, and visitors will have an opportunity to meet participating local artists.

As part of the exhibition, a framed monotype by artist Phil Garrett will be offered in a silent auction to raise funds for additional studio equipment. Bidding will remain open throughout the exhibition, with the final bid announced Saturday, April 4 at 4 p.m.
